throw out bearing

i have a 1978 cj-5 with the 3-speed i need to replace the throw out bearing and was wonder if it would come out the side on the shifter fork or do i have to drop the trans/t-case also would swapping in the 4 speed with granny low be hard cause that 6.24:1 first sounds sweet thanks

I am so new to the CJ world that I can not answer your question but the Granny Low 4 speed is as sweet as Honey. If you can get on in there go for it. Just now learning the joys of the T-18 myself. Tug

the throwout bearing is around the input shaft, so the transmission will have to be dropped
