The old XJ is wafting a bit tinky

'96 XJ here and after a summer's worth of a/c use the old gal is smelling a little musty so i got some aerosol spray duct cleaner. Part of the procedure is spraying the alcohol mixture in through the fresh air intake grill. When I took the grill and wiper arms off to get a better shot at things I expected to find some kind of intake vent, alas there was none to be found. So I thought I'd write in to make sure I was in the right spot.

I'm guessing the corridor I found with the wiper motor in it is part of the intake system, and the vent I'm looking for is probably toward the passenger end. That sound right?

This is were K-2 and senoir members would chime in. I am also interested in cleaning my a/c vents, but dont how to.

Not PC.
There is not a lot of room without tearing the dash out - so lets try old school -
This is a Dark, Damp, hot place odors mildew etc so
from passenger side, eng at IDLE, HVAC in recirculate - Light one up, inhale :) then blow the smoke under dash observe where it gets sucked into HVAC, NOW spray LYSOL, summerseve*, where the smoke went, this should help with the mold must -

* your GF knows, trust me.
