If anyone out there did their own SOA lift I would like to get the measurements for the brackets you have to make. I am getting ready (again) to do this lift and I would like to make the pieces before I start the actuall project. I have all sorts of steel at work along with MIG and Stick welders. If anyone can give me a drawing with the measurements to do this on a 91 4.0 5spd. that would be a HUGE help. Thanks [addsig]

What sort of brackets are you looking to make... I'm assuming spring perches... what else are you looking to make?[addsig]

I got a 91 4.0 5spd. Just got done doing spring over today. I have 4" springs, shackles, and 3" body also. It made my jeep look bad ass. Here is everything you have to do...

1. Spring perches "Front and Rear" 2 1/2 Inch wide. You can buy these!

2. You have to bend your draglink or get a high steer kit (high steer kit is the best) I bent my draglink.

3. You use the same u-bols. just flip them around. and the same spring plates. on the front switch the left and the right. (Gives your sway bar mounts back with no mods.)

4. Buy longer shocks... Or on the front you can welt bolts for shot mounts on the spring plates.

5. Extend your brakelines.... Dont buy the exteneded ones. Just pull yours down and give a lot of slack. (Dont kink them)

6. Make a square track bar extension...

7. Make s track bar extension in the back also.

8. Make slack in the E-brake cable and the back brake line

and that should be most of it.

If you are still lost, I can post some pictures in a day or two.[addsig]

Sandman you running SOA + 4inch springs + shackles + 3" body? Damn that thing must be huge! How big of tires are you running? How do you get in that thing? Aren't you worried about rolling over in your own driveway? (actually seen that happen hehe)[addsig]

sandman... that is one killer jeep... what tires will you run now? 38's?[addsig]

Sandman, it sure sounds like you know what your doing when it comes to doing an soa with a little amount of money. I heard that you could use the stock brake lines but I wasn't sure how... anyway, yes the spring perches is what I was thinking of making... So how long did the soa take you? Some people have told me 1 day and others 4, and everywhere in between... I probably can only afford one weekend since its my main mode of transportation... another question, what kind of ratio and axles do you have? did you just throw beefier gears in the stock axles? Pictures would be great by the way, I really need to do this... it's driving me crazy how I can just step into my jeep!!! I wanna climb up in the frigger!! Hey here's an idea, if anyone that knows SOAs and are here in Jersey, why don't you come down and help!! I have the shop, welders, scrap metal, I could run vinyl graphics to return the favor!!! Thanks for the help sandman.[addsig]

This is "Sandman", had to get a new name!

I was running 35" tires. But now that Im SOA, I am going to 38" or 39.5"

It is a beast though. Its really tall. I got a frind with the same jeep. Same lift only 1" body though. Hes running 37" tires. Looks great. Never had a problem will rollin! Its my daily driver also. But I baby it now.[addsig]

I will work on getting some pictures for you... And by the way. It took me about a day to do whole rig.[addsig]

Jeepin91 aka sandman, what kind of lift did you have on that thing when you had the 35s on?? This all makes sence now that I know I'm talking to the same person on 2 different posts!![addsig]

1053364

yep that'll do it, for a second there I thought you just put 35s on a stock jeep! I wish.[addsig]

The 4" lift + shackles + 3" body gave me a TONE a clearence with those 35" tires. I never once rubbed. My advice is go SOA though. Just with that you can clear 35" with a little bit of rubbing with your wheelin'. Just add some shackles to the setup and you will be set.

You can buy those Spring perches for 18.00 a set. you need two sets. and the shackles I think are only about 40.00[addsig]

jeepin91-
If my calculations are correct you should have at least 12" of lift, thats not counting the shackles either. I would like to see pictures of this. Also- I would like to know how you extended your stock brakelines that much without putting them in danger of getting caught on something. Granted with that much lift you aren't goin to get caught on much, but still....[addsig]
