Does anyone know where I can find the Correct temperature sending unit for my CJ7? I have ordered several from local part stores and from online. I keep getting the same one. It shows NO resistance across it. This is what I know about it and what I believe it should be: The temperature sender is a temperature dependent resistor (Thermistor).
The type in the Jeep is a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) which
means that as the temperature goes up, the resistance goes down.
With an ohmmeter check the resistance between the post and ground.
It should be:
* 73 ohms Cold - Test when engine is slightly warm. A stone cold engine will read a much higher resistance.
* 36 ohms Beginning of Band
* 13 ohms End of Band
* 9 ohms Hot
The post broke off my old one and I have been 3 weeks now trying to find the correct one. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
