Was thinking about picking up a set of 33x10.5 Thornbirds... What do u guys think/know about these things? Are they bias or radial? Any info would be muc happreciated. Thanks, Lane

I've never had a set but everyone I've asked about them despizes them. I've hear all their good for is on show trucks. If you're doing a lot of road driving and barely any off roading but still want the super swamper look and brand name than i guess go ahead and get em.

They are rummored to be not good! They do look great and have all the off road look you could ever want, but......I hear they l;oad up with mud will not self clean and are all in all just as the man said a Show tire. Just my 2 cents tug.

yj not running properly

Turdbirds suck, dont' buy them. I had a set and I got rid of them. Don't clean, ride like hell after 2K miles, and wear out quick. Get some Bfg MT/KO's best all around mud tire out there......

I hear they're the best!!

Just kidding, ditto on the above.

Evidentally wear out in half the time of most. Okay in sand I hear, but terrible in the mud due to not self cleaning as everyone stated before. Plus, while having half the performance, they are among the heaviest tires out there.

Thornturds, Stickturds, either way they suck onroad and off. Even in hard dirt the large treadblocks act as one big slick. The showtruck crowd sure does like 'em.

They are a bias, which makes for some quirky onroad characteristics. If you go with a TSL, check out the radials. They give great traction while maintaining decent road manners.

I had them on my old Ford F-150. They looked excellent, were very loud (comparable to Swamper Boggers), were usless off road and on wet pavement they were like slicks. The only good thing about these tires is that they lasted a long time because they aren't as soft as most other off road tires. Here's a couple of links of what my truck looked like with them on.

Those tires do look good. I was suprised to hear that there is an Interco tire that does not perform well. I was just curious about these because I had the chance to pick up a never used set for pretty darn cheap. But I think I will forgo that option and check out the swamper rads.

all i have heard about the swamper thornbirds has always been negative. no good onroad no good offroad...and they are very loud.

Thornbirdshang on the side of ruts really well. That's all though. I had a set on a Cherokee I used for hunting. Marginal in the mud, terrible on the road and scary on wet pavement. Go with the TSL or if you've got extra bling, a set of radial Baja Claws.
