Suspension/Vibes

well these driveline vibs are really yes or no ex. i know a guy who got a 2" bb on his cherokee needed a tc lowering kit to solve vibes...also ahve a friedn who has about 5" lift and 31s and no prblems at all so you may you may not... tracbar youll be ok or you should be at least i know guys on tjs really dont change tracbars and put steering stabelizers on until over 4" lift but maybe asomeone who is an xj xpert can help you more but i think you shoudl eb alright in all cases

Yes, it will cause vibes, as does any XJ '97+ with that much lift. Pre '97 could lift 4.5" or higher without vibes, gotta love model improvements

Steering should be fine, although the front axle will be slightly off-center. If it bothers you, redrill the lower hole for the front track bar slightly toward the drivers side.

small transfer case drop and do as Bounty said for the trackbar. Both of these have my 2000 XJ running fine on a slightly larger than 4" lift.

Ah.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm getting pretty set on a 3" BDS suspension system. It comes with shocks, transfer case lowering bracket, and a tracbar relocation bracket. I'm going to get some 31x10.50's and put them on the stock 5 spoke wheels.

Careful with using that trackbar relocation bracket. Most I've seen lower the bottom mount, which makes no sense whatsoever since you should be raising it to account for the lift. Most of these drop brackets are horrible for creating bumpsteer. You're much better off redrilling the lower mount.

Check out www.rustysoffroad.com for a good affordable 3" lift. How much is that BDS system you're looking at?

Hmm...

Ditto that!!! I just removed a trackbar relocation bracket for that very reason! Bounty suggested I drill a new hole about 1/2" to the right and that's what I did. Worked great!

Rustys is good stuff, I like BDS too. You could probably get a Rusty's kit with full replacement rear leaf springs for close to the same money for a BDS kit with add-a-leafs. Check into that...

Ahhhhh Fridge...what's up? I now understand why you sold your last XJ. You got another one!!!

Haha. Actually. I got a 2004 Subaru WRX. But, I totalled it while avoiding a drunk driver. But, I'm certainly happy to be back into Jeeping.

I have decided I am going to hold the lift until later and save up for the Skyjacker 8" kit and 35's with a SYE thrown in as well.

Haha. Makes me miss my old Cherokee. That was pretty big for a cherokee.

And of course, it'll take me a while to save up 5k for that 8" system plus tires and SYE, etc etc....

I think I mentioned this in another thread, but you were the reason I did 33's with 4.5" lift along with the trimming. thanks, it was good advice at the time.
