pa just passed some new emission laws here 6 months after i ripped all of my emissions garbage out. for vehicles 95 and under its only a "visual" (whewwww). but with my weber and many vacant vacuum ports i think im screwed. what could i do to pass this? cut off the pulse air tubes and weld them shut like they were never there, and try to make it look as stock as possible? thanks for any help!!!

Re: Pic's of LED's installed

oh yeah....1990 yj with a 258

if it is an upgraded carb.... many mechanics would not even know they are supposed to be there... every mechanic does not know where every vacuum port has to connect to

Look for an inspection shop with muscle cars or built 4x4's. They are useally much easier on you because they do the same things. I take my Jeep to a differant shop than my wifes Olds.

I have the same problem since i too live in south central PA. I figure if i have to I can get the whole set-up from the junk yard and just "stick" it in there with not really having it hooked up. The average mechanic wouldnt have a clue as long as everything looks in order. Besides, mines an '87, how good of a condition could the emissions be in. As 4 the cat, i could always weld two halves of an old cat over the straight pipe. Just hope he doesnt care that the cat sounds hollow  .

according to a gm certified mechanic that i was talking with, they look for these things to be hooked up.
1. egr valve
2. air pump ( pulse air i guess)
3. charcoal cannister
4.catylitic converter
5.pcv valve

if you have that you are good to go, they wont know about all the other "crap" that your suppopsed to have.

 I've done that before!!

It doesn't change the sound. If you cut it apart right and keep all the welds on the top where they're hidden.....well, how are they going to know what you did with just a visual inspection.

you can weld a truss in there, or fill it with several different things so it doesn't sound hollow

Just be glad you dont live in N.Y. or N.J. I here Jersey is the worst, they have state inspectors. In NY we sill have gas stations do the test but they paid so much for the machine to do emissons none of them want to get caught screwing around that they fail you for any little thing or try to make money putting it back to stock. My CJ7 I had to give up on and strip because I had an engine swap and could not get it inspected anymore. The shops did not know how to punch the info into the computer and it always failed emissions.
