I have a 92 xj 4.0 I have had a misfire problem for a while. I have tried to troubleshoot this issue with no luck. I have narrowed it down to cylinder #2 that is misfireing. I have put in new cap/rotor/wires/plugs and a new set of injectors. Also has new fuel pump and filter. The fuel pressure is good was checked with a gauge. It only misfies at idle or just above. It runs fine under load as soon as i push the gas. I am lost on what to do next aside from gettting rid of it. Also there is NO check engine light on. Please help

Check for any of the following conditions/mechanical problems.
ENGINE VACUUM - must be at least 13 inches in neutral
ENGINE VALVE TIMING - must be within specifications
ENGINE COMPRESSION - must be within specifications
CYLINDER LEAKAGE TEST - must be within specifications
CAM LOBES - must not be worn excessively
WEAK or BROKEN VALVE SPRINGS
ENGINE PCV SYSTEM - must flow freely

I believe it may be a sticking valve because it is real bad sometimes and other times very little. Always on #2 cylinder though. Just a thought

Well i guess i can say that i have no more problems with my jeep. I found a deal i couldnt pass up. I ended up tradeing it for a 98 subaru impreza. Not to worry i will be getting another jeep sometime in the future.
