Squeeky springs

Trak-Loc and Disc/Drum brake decisions...

Hello bryanjeep,

Years ago, when woolly mammoths roamed the newly cooled earth, teradactals sat on statues, I was young and most vehicles had leaf springs, the squeaky spring problem was more common.

The technique used then was to wedge the spring leafs apart at the ends one at a time and shoot a blob of chassis grease into the separation. (No fingers in there, please.)

If you use that technique, expect some grease drips for a while and protect your driveway or garage floor.

We also used brake fluid to lube squeaky rubber spring mount bushings because brake fluid would not harm the rubber.

Regards,
