Sound bar + windjammer problem

Okay, i just installed new front speakers, got a good deal on some infinity's... but i really want a sound bar...

this is a problem because i have a half top ( actually just the bikini/windjammer/duster combo ) which would place my soundbar "outside". On the highway ive seen jeeps with speakers mounted on the inside, like right above the drivers left shoulder etc...

anyone know what these are called, or even better a place to buy them? [addsig]

I have a soundbar and thinking about a halftop-- been wondering the same question about the speakers being outside... I think (havent tried it yet, but it looks like it will work...) that the soundbar could be mounted on the other side of the roll bar so that the speakers are inside. [addsig]

I run my soundbar on the OUTside with sony exploids.
Exploids are not Waterproof, but they possess a urethane
"cone".... Touch wood, no problems yet...
You could run MARINE GRADE speakers. Outside.
Run a speaker with a PAPER cone, you will regret it.

BostonJeep, whats up bro. I have a factory sound bar in my 94 and it is on the inside or before the cross bar. pre 95 wranglers that had soundbars (saharas and sport se's) had them here. post 97 jeeps had them after. I would say that the sound is similar in both due to the pitch difference, but I am sure your not creating a IASCA sound system.

If you can get a factory sound bar do it. I use the same top set up you were describing with no problem. All the loes for the sound bar all already there, you just need to make a little two little cuts on the cross bar. I have put factory sound bars into jeeps that did not come with them. If you need a hand with anything electrical, I was a Installer for years and specialized in jeeps! I know you are just around the corner so drop a line!

jps do you know, on a post 97 wrangler, can you remove the sound bar and rotate it so that it is on the inside of the bar? [addsig]

Try Ebay but be cautions, I have seen people sell "factory sound bars that are not after market. If you want I will let you look at mine. If all else fail try the steelership, you will pay more, but you will get exactly what you need!

Factory YJ sound bars came factory with jensen speakers that are pretty much junk!!

As for post 97 sound bars, you can switch them, will require drilling, but the sound bar is not designed to perform in that direction, the sound will now face out the back!

I will check out ebay and post what I fine.

PS after market sound bars are dirt. They do not stand up to the elements at all and require a lot of drilling.

As for the wires for the sound bar. They are in a terminated pulg under the glove box.

The only draw back of a factory sound bar that I shoud tell you is, A true factory YJ bar never had a dome light and they only have 4 inch speakers where after markets usually have 61/2 and domes.
