Soft top question

I've got a 2006 TJ Golden Eagle edition with both tops.

I live in Washington and it is time to swap over from the soft top to the hard top. <<sigh>> We never did get a real summer up here...

Is there anything special that should be done to the soft top before I put it away in storage for the winter? I'll give it a good cleaning first but is a protectant required or recommended?

I've never used a protectant on my soft top. I clean it with soap and water only. For storage. i lay them flat on a cardboard and place towels in between the plastic windows then place them on the garage attic.

Jeep has a cleaner but I use a mild detergent like dish soap I use a soft cloth diaper works well then I dry it out. Thats it!

I’m sharing your weather pain; then all the rain we had a week ago tricked most of the salmon in the tributaries off of the Columbia into booking up river to the hatcheries. Damn.

I never use a protectant on my tops. I’m not hip on adding layers of chemicals on the fabric; I figure eventually the protectant does more harm than good.
