Should I pull the engine or drop the transmission????

I have to replace my slave cylinder next week and I am looking for the easiest and fastest way to do so. Boy do I appreciate jeep putting that darn thing internal or I'd be on the road right now. anyone have any recomendations??[addsig]

I went with the transmission and transfer case drop. Less to un hook and rehook in my humble oppenion! But it is just that my oppenion. tug[addsig]

yeah... you will be much better off dropping the transmission... or even using a transmission jack, and just sliding it back... that way, you don't have to muscle it back around... just bring it down, then back... then when you are done... slid her forward, up, forward... done...


its not quite that easy... but not TOO bad[addsig]

I just did mine drop the transmission ...much easier..
and alot faster with a big floor jack... :-D [addsig]

I'm having a little trouble getting the front driveshaft off. I got the little u shaped bolts that hold the u joints in off but I couldn't figure out how to work the shaft out of t he tcase. and boy did i have a hell of a time getting the bolts out of the skid plate, took me a while just to break the bolts (and a cut up tow). I ordered the clutch that higgins posted and it will get here tomorrow (wednesday). Awesome deal thanks for finding that.[addsig]

Once the bolts and straps are out, you may need to pry the u-joint out of the yoke. They get stuck in there and take some persuading to get out.

haha.. glad to help guys... i found that when i was repacing my transmission... unfortunately, i didn't have the money to replace the clutch with it... so when that goes... i'll be in there again[addsig]
