Shocks...again.

Just put on my 32" BFG TA/KOs and I was considering new shocks. I'm debating between some nice hydraulics or some cheapys. With the larger tires and the 2" leaf lift am I going to need longer than oem shocks? If so how do I go about sizing the shocks? Also is there some rule that says all four shocks need to replaced at the same time? Or can the front be done then the back later? After dropping some hard earned coin on treads I was hoping to stay inexpensive.[addsig]

As for suggesting which shock to buy.

That is one of those personal choice questions that depend on your needs, wants and finances.

Everybody will have an opinion, some good, some misinformed and some just don't have a clue, but like to post.

My best answer is that you get what you pay for. Shopping Performance, Relialibility, and warranty usually get you the best for your money.

I have over the years installed several different shocks on my 1989 Jeep YJ. It is used as a daily driver and weekend off-road rock crawler. Five-inch lift, 33-inch tires, 250k miles. Running Rancho 9000’s for me has been worth the cost. They have performed well for a long time, stayed reliable, and have that warranty if needed.

So far, over the life of these shocks vs. other less expensive brands not only will the cost be equal, the performance has been superior.

Remember: 8-)
They say it’s cheaper in the long run to do it right the first time.
At least if they’re wrong, you only did it once.
