Shock or not

If your ever done with a build, I am. Or at least one phase. I installed the U-Turn steering and the big track bar. I'm still a ways out from filling cases in order to drive so I was wondering while I'm still under construction. Am I going to need a stabilizer shock or not??? I've heard both ways. Any water I can keep this sponge from soaking up I can throw somewhere else.

I just had my steering changed over from a HD set up to a Hi-steer kit. The guy who installed the kit and made the new links told me I didnt need a stabilizer, it was just a mask for a bad install or set-up. I gave him the single eye-brow trick, well I have to say if you build it right you dont need a steering stabilizer.

I'm not sure if I do anything right lol, in life either. But I try my damnedest. I just wonder that if the mere size of the setup doesn't allow harmonics and flex you would get with stock bars.

That is a good question...
IMAG0089.jpgthis was my old HD system, it was made with D2 steel. The TRE's are stock size but all the links are case harden steel. I did get some DW when my ball joints on my passenger side needed replacing so I would say no there, I even had a stabilizer in the system.
With my new arms I dont have TRE's any more and the links are 7075 alum. All the ends are heim joints...maybe because they are so new with no play what so ever, the moog ball joints are less than a 3 months old could be making the system so stiff that no DW can show up at this stage, that doesnt mean I could get it later on.

Although the setup is renown I'll still post it. This is my 3rd wrangler, and also the one I'm slowly going to take to the limit, like there is one. I hope this set up will eliminate the DW I experienced with the stock set-up. Life and life with a jeep is a lesson. As much money as all of us put into these things I'd hate to or see anyone install a useless item. Am I right in assuming that if the TR flexes it shrinks in size which in turn manipulates weather your front wheels are in alignment or..... Pointing forward anymore. There was a guy here that bowed his TR so bad he had to jack it back as close into place to get home. I search for the ultimate set-up as I'm sure everybody else dose also.

Utah is right, you don't 'need' a steering stabilizer on a rig that is set up properly. Having said that, adding a stabilizer will increase the life of all your steering components and take some of the harshness out of road forces impacting the steering.

Me, I run one just to make stuff last longer.

I'm with ya and still wondering. I've got close to a G for 3 round bars and some TREs lol. I am gonna keep the grease oozing out of them, you can count on that. So the shock won't be a necessity but yet an aid to longevity of my thousand dollar bill. Lol. Lifes about insurance hu?
