Runnin\' hot???

I bought my '97 Wrangler back in September. The average temp in Texas was about 70 degrees. Our winters aren't very fierce either. I noticed that during the winter months, my temp gauge only got a hair above 100. Now it's summer and the average West Texas temp is about 102 degrees each day. Naturally, my Jeep's gonna run a little hotter, but should it run up to 210 (sometimes 213)? Plus, when I run my A/C (although rarely when the top is up) the temp reaches to about 220. Is this normal? Should I have it checked out? I've got plenty of coolant, but it probably needs to be flushed and refilled. Any advice out there?

Greetings,

Although 210 is still in the "normal" zone according to the manual (center position) getting around 220 seems a bit warm, although our '97 TJ doesn't have A/C. Your Winter temp sounds too cold, though so it couldn't hurt to have your cooling system flushed and replace the thermostat - relatively inexpensive compared to overheating damage!

HTH,

Mike
