Rubicon

Hi everyone! I'm new around here. I've spent the last three days reading all the threads on the site. It's a great site with great people. Anyway I graduate in May and I want to buy a TJ. I looking at the Rubi. For a couple of reasons. One it will be a lot easier to convince my old lady to let me finance a $ 28,000 then it will be for me to get a $ 20,000 TJ and add $8000 worth of mods or more. The second thing is this will be my first 4X4 so i dont know alot about all the componets. Ask me about blown 502 ci chevy with nitros and i ll tell you all about it ask me about a dana 44 axle and i ll tell you i am working on that one. So it seems with the rubi i get a great start and maybe can do some mods in a couple of years (if i can squeez it out of my wife) but in the meantime ill have plenty of fun. But is the rubi really worth it. I read all the treads on the rubi and i know it getting great reviews, but was wondering if any veterans had one, or had at least taken one off road. I am moving back to Arkansas so the terrian could be sand rock mud or just about anything
Thanks[addsig]

A guy in my Jeep Club here in South Carolina has one. It would do anything the big jeeps could do, and sometimes better. Because it's only lifted about 2 inches, the center of gravity creates a real stable environment for the sweet Goodyear MT/R's. It's got lockers front and rear inside of Dana 44 axles.

Stock jeeps come with the Dana 30(front) and Dana 35(rear). These are notoriously weak axles. The Dana 44's are coveted by all in the Jeep world. There are a number of axles better than the 44, but it is suffice for the power supplied by this jeep's engine. I say YES, it is a great buy. If I was authorized to get a brand new Jeep, it would definitely be the Rubicon.

The only thing that would hold me back (don't kill me you guys) but for $28k, you could get a real nice used Tahoe which has a TON more cargo space. With a growing family, I know that I could not justify the Rubicon over the Tahoe. :-x

But that's why I got an old jeep and keep it for myself.[addsig]

Sully, baby, you're preachin' to the choir! I am an advocate of the Rubicon. I love it. I want one. But I've only been married 3 years, and we want kids next year. So for a new family, the Tahoe (or similar large gas-guzzler) would be optimal, cause I refuse to get a minivan. The Rubicon is a Jeep Marvel. By far the best thing to come off the line since the very first MB in 1941.

GET THE RUBICON!

(see how that's the bottom line) :-D [addsig]

The "Rubicon" will be a great first 4x4 or you. You wont have to do anything to it! I believe it comes stock with the air lockers front & rear, 4:10 gears, 31" tires, it's set up already! All you'd need to add would be a winch bumper and winch! Maybe some extra off-road lights?
Good luck!

Thanks guys. Great Info. Just got a wife and 140 pound puppy with no kids in mind so the tahoe is out of the question. but good thinkin though hi c i wont mention it to my wife sound like the practical solution to a new car. and hey far right movin back to Van Buren its outside of Ft Smith. maybe we can get together when i move back and you could teach show me how my new jeep the real way and what its capable of cause i aint spending that cash to leave it on some black top or dirt road. perhaps give it a few character marks out in the Great Arkansas Wilderness. thanks for all the input guys, and the puppy is a great dane if the weight shocked you.
