Roll cage

Hey,
I'm looking for a roll cage that is stronger than the stock. The reason for this is most people consider my idea to be "tall". (5.5 on 37's with 5 inch stretch) I'm not near moab but im planning on going there. I need some insight. After looking around i've noticed many roll cages. Which one is the strongest and best?

EDIT: I'm also not sure what axel. I was thinking 8.8 rear dana 44 with alloy front

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, you're asking a question with a lot of answers depending on what you want. What year/kind of Jeep do you have? Do you want a kit that you weld together yourself or do you want something already prefabricated? Weld together or clamp? Tied into the frame or welded to the floor pan?

IMHO, I would suggest something made out of a minimum of 1-3/4" diameter, .120" wall DOM tubing, fully triangulated and gusseted, fully welded and tied into the frame.

Check out these sources for a few options options:

JEEP PARTS | JEEP ACCESSORIES | JEEP BUMPERS | Roll Cages

Rock Hard 4x4 Parts - Jeep Ultimate Sport Cages

Jeep Sport-Cages

Jeep Roll Cages | Jeep Roll Cage Components | Poison Spyder Customs

I personally would rather have DOM down tubes running behind the dash rather than the flat plate dash supports but there are pros and cons both ways.

The poison spider is looking good. I have a 2000 tj stock right now. Im not a mechanic so im not be putting it in but I don't want to make it difficult for the guys putting it in for me. The poison spider will allow for the factory hard and soft top? I didn't see that in there. Also it let's back seats right?

Thanks,
Tom

Not trying to be pushy but does anyone know of a roll cage that has the bar down the middle of the windshield? I was also hoping to have the backseat and stock tops.

Just think the bar down the middle looks INSANE!!

Good choice, solid cage.

To me, TJ's are narrow enough that a center windshield brace would be more of a visual hindrance rather than needed strength. I've seen photos of a lot of Jeeps that have flopped or rolled and come out fine with just the horizontal windshield and dash bars.

That makes sense. But i still think it would help with strength. Would it really hinder the view? Well what about the sport cage? (Genright)

The view thing is just a matter of preference. I wouldn't care for it on my DD but hey, that's just me.

As for the difference between the two cage kits, I have a custom fabbed cage similar to the sport cage, although it is heavier DOM tubing (they don't say if this cage is DOM or HREW). It also works with both hard and soft top.

I got lucky with mine, "Betty" came with a six point family cage. It interfered with the top bows so got a stepped roll bar. Later a local fab shop grafted them both together for me with magnificent welds, primered and mounted for only 180 bones. You might look into making friends with yer local fab shop folks :)
