Roll bar?

I know that I should probably know this, but I was just looking at the regulations (finally) for Oregon OHV and noticed that it said that all vehicles need to have roll bars. I have a 2000 Cherokee. They don't have a specific roll bar. Does the body of the cherokee count, or are you supposed to go in and install a roll cage or something? I mean you aren't REALLY supposed to be upside down, but who knows...

Roll bars are for open top vehicles only. Unless you gota special covertable xj (LOL) you don't need a roll bar, the roof/hard top is fine.

Plus, I've heard that XJ roofs and roof pillars are almost as strong as the Wrangler "sport bars". (They really don't qualify as roll bars because they're not bolted to the frame, only the body. Unless you install a real one and bolt it in to the frame, but the stock ones aren't.)

That sounds excellent. Next time I end up upside down I won't worry about it quite so much...

I was thinking though, the xj's a unibody, so does that make any difference?

what kind of a difference do you mean? no stock jeep will hold up to a rollover well. if its going to be offroaded seriously, a roll cage is the only way to go.

I have been pushing the 'personal' envelope so much recently, that I went out and bought the Poison Spyder additional cage components and welded them into the "Sport" bar in the Mighty YJ...
