31" tires on a '89 Grand Wagoneer?

me and my grandpa were talking about making some type of sliders for my jeep and i brought up the idea of using 4 x 4 1/4 inch thick angle iron, but then he said something that would be realy cool would be to trace a desgin on it like my name or something then take it to someone with a plasma cutter and have it cut out. then paint the angle iron black. that way the color of the jeep shows thru the holes in the angle iron. kinda like the little w on warns rock sliders. so has anyone ever done this or seen this done.

Yup! Been done. Check out Posin Spyder products They have some nice cut outs of a spyder logo. There is a Roll Back Car Hauler here in town with some fancy cut away work as well. But it is a good idea and send us some pics would love to see em. tug

I love this Idea! We've done the 4 x 4s and test mounted them on his CJ. Sully is on vacation and I am exactly at the point where I can do this before painting. I was hoping to have it done before he comes back. I also have a plasma cutter.(and every other piece of fabrication equipment known to man)

But what design to put on it? Any suggestions?

Simple, get a bit taller piece like 6x4 or 8x4 if you can fit it below the door sill. Then trace out a sillohette of a mountian range.

what don't you like about your wrangler?

Jeep logo near the rear, to match what's on the front fender, would make a nice cutout. Not too flashy, but stylish like the Warn design.

COOL and WILD and CRAZY Jeep Pics

Angle Iron won't really fit snug since there is a radiused inside profile. It's not a true 90 degree profile. It would be better to use steel or aluminum that has been sheared and broken. I have aluminum that goes from the door sill all the way down with a 1" break at the bottom. Then I polished swirls in it. Check out the pictures at www.nocrybabies4x4.com on the June pics. It's blue with a yellow cage.

Bottom of the CJ has a nice radius, the angle iron works fine. Also with a 4" return it makes a great slide and jackpoint, I'll post pictures when done.

Oh and great pictures on that site.
