Rear Shock Mount Broke??

my rear drivers side shock mount split into while i was driving down the road i hit a bump but it wasnt a hard bump and i feel the jeep wiggling and swaying all parts of the road so when i got home i looked up in under and seen the shock mount was busted off. what is the cause of this or do it happen sometimes?? is it ok for me to just weld it back together.. i was gonna weld it and weld another plate to it to strengthen it. did anyone have this problem before??

It happens, it usually starts with a tear in the metal or metal fatigue from wheelin. You can weld it back together and brace it without issues. Many companies also sell replacement brackets that are built with a thicker metal.

Had the same thing happen on my "95YJ...ended up making a bracket out of heavier steel.

Quite often a bent/bad shock can put excess pressure on the mounts and snap them off.
