I have a 1965 CJ5 with a 350 chev, with a SN465 trans, Dana 18 tfc, axles front 27 and back 44.( My springs are to stiff they are 9 leaf.) Can I take some of the leafs out. Will that work? and if it will how many should I take out?

i think the heavy duty ones for my 87 are a 5 leaf

You didn't make the mistake I did, did ya? I replaced my shackel and leaf spring bushings and got 'em too tight. It couldn't flex and road like a log wagon. I loosend 'em up, made a big difference.

you can start pulling leafs. older jeeps could be had with some wierd spring combos. a friend of miine just picked up a 72 CJ5 and it was designated as a Agri-jeep from the factory and has a 7 leaf pack up front and 4 leaf pack rear. our thought is it was originally equip with a crane boom or plow or something front heavy.
