Rear drum brake repair on YJ

So I recently changed out my rear drum brake pads and both wheel cylinders. One back right was leaking like crazy and when I pulled it apart it looks like it self detonated, springs were broken, it was missing parts and the pistons in the brake cylinder just fell off when I opened it up. After repairing them I made sure to see if there was a little drag on my wheels and took it for a test drive. Everything felt great but someone told me when you push in your emergency brake a few times that it's supposed to adjust your brakes. Is this true or do I have to manually adjust them through the back on the adjustment knob? Thank you

The self adjuster works when you back a vehicle up. I don't think the parking brake will do anything to the adjustment.
