I found some axles for sale:

"d 44f 8lug $150 410 gears full time
d60r 8 lug ff 410 gears welded new breaks and componets $250
-all axles came out of 70s dodges and are in good condition passenger drop on the front d44s"

thats the ad... will those fit under my YJ nice? the guy said that the perches are in a different spot which doesn't matter since im gonna soa.
why does it say "full time"? and why does it say "gears welded"?
any input would help! Thanks

Welded gears, is the spider gears in the rear diff are all welded up, ask bounty hunter about this, he knows better than I, but it is commonly refered to as a linclon locker (spelling.) My guess is the ff is also for full floating axles. As for the front, I would assume that the seller mean it is out of a vehicle with either full time 4x4 or it had automatic locking hubs or both. Not overly farmiliar with these 70's dodges. as for putting those under you jeep, those are full width axles and will stick out sooo far, and will make it difficult to manuver around trails, but can be done and no they will not bolt right in.

At the price it seem to be a good deal but take into consideration the work it will require to get them under you jeep. Are you confident enough to weld and do some fancy cutting, or will you have someone do it, cause it can get pricey!

If you get them, the best thing to do, this is if it is a Daily driver, cut both axles down to the same Wheel mounting surface(wms) dimention, call up a company like M.O.R.E. and get a perch/shock kit. fit the axles into the vehicle and weld away, keeping in mind pinion angle, shock clearence, your steering will have to be changed. This is just a brief over view of what has to be done! Do a web search to see if people have done this before and see what the total cost involved was!

The front diff is on the wrong side to bolt into your jeep.

Better off finding SJ axles or some out of an old Bronco, both can be found with driver's side diff and D44 and stronger axles.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll let em go... too much trouble.
By the way, which one is the SJ again?

It's the ole Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, before they downsized to the XJ Cherokee. Usually came with a 360, commonly with Quadratrac full-time 4wd. Early 80's can be found with D44 front and rear with driver's side front diff.

Lookout for offset rear diff in some. HD AMC20 rear came in some, which is not too bad an axle, better than a D35, not as highly sought after as the D44.
