Question about rim offset

When I got the jeep it had 35x15x15 tires on 15x12" inch wheels on it. The tires were destroyed and all over the road and I just plain didn't like the rims so I got rid of them. I finally found a set of rims I like, but I'm a little confused about the whole offset think. The rims are listed as a 17"x9" wheel with a +24mm offset. What is the offset supposed to be? Tire choice is going to be 35x12.5.

if i remember right, that means the rims mounting face is 24mm towards the inside of the rim from center. but google that to make sure

all i can remember for sure is i ran 15x8 et0 on my autocross car so i never had to worry about off set, ha ha ha

So what I got is offset is the measurement to the mounting point from the centerline of the wheel. Positive offset is to the outside of the wheel, negative offset is to the inside of the wheel (like a deep dish wheel). 24mm is translates to just under an inch so the mounting face would be just under an inch forward of the center of the wheel.

Looking at specs for wheels that are specifically listed for wranglers I've seen everything from a negative offset to positive offsets that are the same as these wheels. So i assume they will work. Im not really looking to have the wheels sticking way out of the wheel wells but is someone can give me an idea if this is going to work or if its going to wind up giving me clearance issues I'd appreciate it.

so i was totally backward on what it means, ha ha ha.

i wish i could remember what the offset was on my cherokee because they were perfect for wranglers too.
