PCM (Computer Box)

Is there a way to determine if the Power Control Module is any good or not?
Am using a hand held diagnostic and keep getting 'link error'.
Checking for codes on a '98 Grand Cherokee with 5.2 engine.

Using a DMM to test circuits on the PCM is the best tool to use. The link error from a generic scantool may indicate a bus communication error or a No Bus signal from the DLC(Diagnostic link Connector). Make sure you check all the fuse under the hood and in the cabin.

What's a DMM? Scan tool keeps giving a 'link error'.
Am I correct in assuming that a Bus communication error would mean a bad fuse? Tell me about the DLC.:???:

DMM-digital multimeter. You can use this to verify grounds, voltage and continuity all throughout the wiring harness. The DLC( diagnostic link connector) is where you plug in the scantool. If you get an error in communicating to the modules present in the system it would mean that there is a " Bus Communication " issue. The possibilities are either a wiring issue or a component failure such as the PCM.
