I have a 95 yj with just under 3'' of lift. The ride quality has always been terrible when it comes to any surface that isnt as smooth as glass. I want to upgrade my shocks to either ome or rubicon or any other brand that would help me from getting whiplash every time i hit a bump in the road. Any and all suggestions appreciated

Not sure just shocks are going to do it for you but if it is both RE and Ol Man Emu will give you top quality. My guess is the leafpacks you have now are super stiff and are the main factor in the poor ride of your Jeep. Try pulling one of the leafs out of each side of the pack to soften it up and then try a new set of shocks if you still have a horrible ride. Good Luck with your Jeep.

I have had pretty much every shock imaginable on my YJ, well not really, but seeing as I have owned it for about 15 years and have had a number of different lifts etc, the list is long.. IMHO they all will ride the same with leafs at all four corners, to that end, I just buy the cheapest napa shocks that fit my application and pocket the rest of the money.

It's your leaf springs more then likely what lift do you have on your yj? What psi are you running your tires at?

ome is very very nice. had one of their 2.5 lifts on the wife's liberty and it was like a cadillac on the highway and around town

I am sure that the liberty rides very nice but remember that a YJ and a Liberty are completely different vehicles. Unibody and coils vs Frame and leaf springs.

Completely different but OME has a huge reputation for a smooth ride.

i understand that but the shocks are the same. the ride was improved over stock by alot.

thanks for everyones input the lift kit that I have on right now are 2.5" pro comp leaf springs and 3/4" boomerang shackles and rough country shocks, might I add that these shocks have broken through the hole on the shock mount i mean completely tore the steal. Also the psi i run around town is usually 35 psi but i have them around 28 now. Do you think that it would be a better investment to get a complete lift kit from a reputable manufacturer because i bought everything in pieces and I think that may be why the quality is so terrible
