Oil Type

'k...I'm new here, and not overly familiar with oil types, but I notice it's been posted the danger of using 'GL5'.

Is this Castro? Is Synthentic truly better? I own a 92 Jeep YJ, 4 cylinder, and notice my oil tank gets dirty too fast between oil changes.

Any tips appreciated...[addsig]

The GL5 rating is related to gear oil and from what has been said it is damaging to the brass syncro's in the manual trannies. In the past I used a BG product called MOA to help keep my oil clean during changes. Another thing you can do is do a few changes within a 1000 miles of each other this should help clean up the oil, that helped me out and now I try to change my oil aroung 2000 miles. I use Valvoline 10w30, and a wix filter in my jeep but thats just my preference. Hope this helps out. Evan[addsig]
