Oil pressure?

Where should my oil pressure be? When I start it and am moving pretty good down the highway, it hangs around 60. I don't know if this is recent (haven't paid that much attention to it before) but it seems to fluctuate between the high 40's to around 60. Is this normal or am I developing a problem?

That is excellent oil pressure for a Jeep. It almost sounds as if you are running 20w50 oil. Is that true?

40 psi is good when the Jeep is above idle. At idle, most Jeeps drop oil pressure down to about 20 psi. If it gets any less then you need to worry.

any high mileage engine drops pressure that low.. its a sign of a worn oil pump... so long as its at least 15-20 at idle you should be fine.. any lower you need to replace the pump.

if its high milage and low make sure u replace the pump, u dont want to starve the engine for oil, thats askin for trouble hehe
