I am thinking about buying some off-road lights to mount on my windshield. I was just wondering whether to go with driving lamps or long range. Also was wondering what brand KC Hella or PIAA or maybe some brand i dont know about. Thanks

If you really want off road lights go with Off Road lon range lights and any brand just make sure they are bright! 150 watt are a good choice and KC's are my choice just for the proven ability of the lights. May be some better and even cooler and what ever but that is my choice.

Now if you want on the road leagle lights then you will have to adjust you choices by what you plan to do with them. tug

Go with Kc, the company really takes great care of you. They don't care what the problem is, they will fix it or replace it FREE. Do not get the rotabar light bar. It shakes too much.

Hella 500 driving lights are on sale at rustysoffroad.com for 49 dollars--way below most prices on the web. It's on the front page under "Specials." Now if only their Vision Plus kits would go on sale....

Re: Cherokee won't start.

I went with IPF Driving/Off-road lights. They have a double reflector to make the range WIDE close up and narrow farther away. They also come with 50Watt and 100W bulbs.
Greatest thing. They Never Rust.

Driving lights are designed to be mounted 18 inches and lower because the pattern they produce. (A thin flat triangle)

Off road lights/ pencil beams/spots thrown a long circle of light and best for anywhere the trail goes father then your hi beams. (They also will illuminate great all around when under trees.)

They do make some great combo lenses now but strictly driving/fog lenses don't work all that good unless they are mounted low.

I love KC daylighter although they draw a ton of power. I currently have those cheapo Baja chrome KC look-a-likes you get at any auto store. Besides showing a little rust they work pretty damn well. And when I smash them they are 16 bucks. Lights are like sun glasses, the exspensive ones are best until you sit on them.

Has anyone else had problems with the Titanium finish available on the KC lights? I an having a problem with the finshe chipping off and then it rusting.

I have the black KC slimlites and they are great lights. No complaints what so ever. I have a friend with the titanium and he has had no probs jeeptp, but he has only had them a short time...

i run the PIAA 520's and no complaints except for 1 ticket i got for misuse, but i was in a unfamiliar area near my buddy lake house about an hr. from home. the local officer knew i wasn't from the area and he still wrote me up. He even took out a tape measure to prove that they were more than 18" from the ground (they are mounted to my windshield :D )

cops are good people... some of them are, the ones who are not drugged up on authority...

i have some cheapo plastic case lights that have never done me wrong... bumper mounted... i may mount some in my hard top, but i'll have to reinforce it first so i don't crack it with wind
