O2 Sensor problems (code P0161)

So, I've had a check engine light for a while (ever since I went mudding). The error I received is:

P0161 - Powertrain
O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

So, I replaced the O2 sensor - the one I replaced was towards the back of the Jeep and closer to the ground, which I believe is downstream bank 2. I cleared the code, and within 10 minutes of driving the next day the light came back on with the same code.

Any idea what I should try next? Any chance I replaced the wrong sensor?

What brand O2?

Check wiring for opens and shorts.

Check for an exhaust leak

I believe that it was NGK.

I'll try checking the wiring, but it's so tucked up in the engine that it's tough to get to.

I just did a search on O2 sensors, and sure enough, there was a post from me asking about another error, and you advised me to buy O2 sensors from the dealer...

I'll also have to take your advice and "blow up" my engine with a shop vac
