I heard that it is cheaper to go find a Dodge pickup with an NP231HD and bolt that in; opposed to go out and buying an SYE kit. . . whats everyone's opinion on that? if its worth it and will work ill def. be going to a salvage yard and pull one soon!
 

The HD still has a slipyoke, so they only thing you're gaining is a wider chain and sprockets.
 
A 3/4 ton will likely have the 241HD or equivelant, but I'd bet it has a slipyoke. Manufacturer's used the slipyokes to save money and there was no need to build splines into the middle of the driveshaft, kept expense down bigtime.
