np 231 shift pattern.

I just swapped out my peugeot with an ax 15 and np231. Having problems with the shift on the t/c. My jeep is an 88 and the pattern was alway forward was 2H, down for 4H, down for nuetral then right and down for 4L.

I just read on the forum that the shift could be as simple as that every time you click it forward or back it changes gear. There is no longer the need to pull it to the right and down for 4L. What is the pattern/

Your help is appreciated because this is frustating the crap out me.

Positions for the 231 is 2H, 4H, N 4L. Moving the shift handle to the right and then down is part of the shifter handle, has nothing to do with the transfer case itself.
