Normal Auto Transmission Sound?

I bought my 2004 Jeep Wranger on Friday. Today I had pinion seals replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced, the transmission flushed and filled (ATM 4) and spark plugs replaced. She runs great, but I have one question. I notice going from first to second gear it makes a whining noise when starting out slow. If I start out quickly it doesn't make the noise .. or at least it's not noticeable. It shifts smoothly and doesn't slip at all. Has great pick up, but I'm wondering is this a normal sound for a automatic Jeep Wrangler? It doesn't bother me .. I'm just curious. Thanks. :???:

I've got a 2005 auto and don't have a sound (that I've noticed). Is this a sound that you can hear with the top and all windows on?

Yes, I haven't had the top off yet. It's a shifting sound .. but sounds slightly whiney. Are there any videos on the board of people driving in their Jeeps, without loud music playing? I'd like to compare mine to other Jeeps. I'm used to driving a Dodge Charger, so it could be I'm just not used to the sound of a Jeep transmissiion.

I have had other vehicles with autos and a couple whined. starting off smoothly and as normal it would have a slight whine from 1st to 2nd, someone told me it was just the torque and the gears winding up. It kinda made since so I never worried about it and had no problems. If you took off a little fast you couldnt hear it.

That's exactly how mine is. I took it out today and did some driving at various speeds and inclines and it did great. I'm not worried about it anymore. And I LOVE my Jeep, I don't think I've ever had so much fun driving a vehicle. :D
