bought my 90 jp new off the floor and love it more than air, it's been pretty dependable to me up til now...but i bought me a toy (3000 GT) and kinda neglected her a bit, went out and cranked her up for a short spin, got about 25 meters and she sputtered and died. now she just cranks and cranks but no fire. changed plugs, wires, rotor and cap and still nothing...she's sparking from the coil (found out the hard way...felt kinda cool in a weird kinda way).she's gettin fuel, can see it shooting into the throttle body, oh yeah, changed the fuel filter first just in case. not too sure about the vacuum lines, have some hangin but have never found a decent diagram to fix them.

well don't know if that's enuff of a description for u to help, maybe the 'ol 2.5 has finally given up the ghost...been thinkin' 'bout a V8 conversion for a while, maybe need to start savin pennies for the swap...(anybody want to buy a 3000GT? lol

How long did she set? Have you checked the fule is it clean and fresh or has it rotted in the tank? You have fire from the coil but do you have fire from the dist. to the plugs? Don't give up onthe little beast! Good Luck Tug oh yea welcome to the gang

Sandy knows when I have new interests and she's always there to reprimand me and remind me that she's #1. Maybe your Jeep's doing the same. LOL -Mike

she only sat a few days before she quit...been sitting a couple weeks now. haven't checked the spark to the plugs yet...kinda figgered that with new cap, rotor, wires and plugs that if there wasn't a spark it'd be fixed. but i will check it in the a.m. just to be sure.thanx

my advice is to do a compression test on the cylinders, this will tell you if is still the lil four banger that can. If the compression is ok and you've already done all those other things, I'd start looking at those vacuum lines again.[addsig]

thanx, i don't know much about compression tests but went to my chiltons...it says the engine must be at operating temp....the only way i can get mine to operating temp is to light a fire under her. can a compression test still be done on a cold engine???
