no oil pressure

Started my 03 4.0 Wrangler this morning and the oil pressure guage did not move, 120,000 miles and never saw this before, any ideas? Can the pump stop suddenly without warning? No knocking from the engine, but I didn't let it run for more than 15 or 20 seconds.

Does your dipstick show the right level of oil?

If the dip stick shows fine, then I bet it's the sending unit. I'd replace it (a $10 gamble), and if you don't get pressure right off the bat on start up, then I'd look else where. Could also be a bad ground in the dash, but not likely if the other gauges are working fine.
