In three months I will be getting my first jeep. I plan on buying a liberty-- I have heard rumors that they are getting rid of the liberty which makes me question -- anyone have any info on that?

DETROIT — The man in charge of protecting a Jeep heritage stretching 70 years said on Monday the Toledo-made Jeep Wrangler will get an improved powertrain this year, promised a new Jeep Liberty will keep its off-road abilities, and said a Jeep pickup could return soon.

...

As for the Jeep Liberty, which will undergo a transformation in 2013 when it begins to be built on a Fiat SpA platform, the Jeep CEO promised the unibody SUV will keep its trail-rated versions, even as it broadens its appeal to a potentially wider audience.

"It will be an absolute true Jeep," Mr. Manley said.

A friend at work bought a Liberty, it's not a new one. Not sure what year, but he's pleased with it. His wife is saying she's gonna take it from him.

There will be parts around for some time even if they stop making them.

So if you like it, can affoard it, and generally understand it, go for it and have fun. And by yourself the official jeep shop manual.

All sounds good to me!-- thanks :)

It just figures when I finally get a jeep they decide to start rumors of taking the one I want away! The rumors of the pick up sound pretty sweet though.

They are keeping the liberty but this 2 very different models the first is the jeep "jet" which is more luxury than off-road an they have the regular sport model for off-road but isn't as nice inside but is raised 2 1/2 inches.
