newer jeeps

I don't know about everyone else, but I really don't like these newer jeeps and how they are like luxurious... I feel like jeeps are made to be rugged with like they can handle some hard shit. But If I had a newer jeep I wouldn't even dare to take it on a dirt road afraid of it getting scratched. Anyone else feel this way?

Im kinda with you there. Im not saying I wouldn't drive one. Nononononono...... but I wanted an older jeep specifically for the reasons you pointed out. I love the ruggedness, being able to just bolt on whatever I feel is necessary, taking it out, and beating it up a little bit. I would definitely NOT be able to do all the things I do in a brand new jeep.

i love the new grand cherokees, but i would be cautious taking it off road. i like the downhill decent option, but it is more of a luxury vehicle than an off road vehicle.

yup, my brother in law has one and its like a cadi on the inside. more of a soccer mom type of vehicle than an off road monster

My mom has one of those grand Cherokees with the hemi and it looks like a Cadillac on the inside. Irony? I think not haha.

Some folks obviously like the new plush, luxurious, bling-bling Jeeps being produced these days...or they wouldn't be selling many of them.

However, there is still a huge market of folks (like me) who enjoy the bare-bones mechanical feel of the older Jeeps...without all of the hassle of computers, sensors, power everything, leather, etc.

I would like to see Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep at least produce a Wrangler model that is basic and stripped down as much as possible...with a correspondingly (much) lower price tag for those of us who like to personalize our Jeep over time.

I want a Jeep that I can DRIVE...not one that does the driving for me!

that would be a good idea to have an optional bare bones jeep with no options other then a radio and maybe a/c, but with good off road capability. i mean you can get a pick-up without the bed and no options, why not a jeep.

Mine has heater/ac and a tape player. And I am very content with that. I can just throw a tape deck in there and it plays my iPod better then anything else.
