can someone explain what the "X" package means on my 04 TJ? i have looked and looked but not smart enough to find it anywhere.

i am assuming it is the lowest options package.

what about the sahara, rubicon, se, and sport packages? what are the differences?

You are correct, the wrangler X is the basic package. Sahara will have the colored body moulding , upgraded wheels and tires. Rubicon has the suspension, body kits, t.case, badging, tires and wheels upgrades. The variants are the se and columbia edition which is mostly an interior feature.

ok, thanks. my jeep does have a trail rated badge. do most have that as well?

also, i am wanting to put some 33 x 12.50's on it. it is not lifted. will that cause problems? would a 3" lift be sufficient?

one more thing, what about a throttle body spacer? will i have to reprogram the cpu if that is installed? does anyone have any experience with those?

The X is a basic package with the 4.0L engine. It was created as an entry level 6cyl package.

You can get by with a 2" coil spacer lift and 33" tires if you don't take it offroad. The tires may rub occasionally and most add a 1" body lift to the 2" coil spacer kit.

I have 62mm Performance throttle bodies and spacers available pretty cheap if you're interested. Email bountyhunter AT sija.org for more info.

Welcome to the Z.

The SE is the base Package.

The X package really only adds the 6 cylinder (although a few SE's did come with the 6) and a few other things.

I know the newer TJ's all have the Trail Rated Badge

Putting some 33's on that with a decent life will sharpen that JEEP RIGHT UP! :)

my next questions.....

is there a bigger stock 6 cyl than the 4.0?

is there a reason this particular jeep doesn't have the "X" decal?

where can i find a center console for this 04? everything i find only works with models a few years older.

The 4.0 came in two versions, the 4.0 and the 4.0 High Output. I don't remember what year it changed but it was in the early 1990s. The HO does have a few more horses but not much. It's a great motor in any version.

For some reason not all X's came with the logo. Now if your jeep has "TJ" on the side it may have originally sold in Canada as GM up until a few years ago owned the Wrangler name in Canada.

The 4.0L in Wranglers was always the HO version, and was first used in '91. '87-'90 Wranglers had the carb'd 4.2L engine.

The 4.0L in Cherokees was introduced in '87 or '88 and is the 'Renix' version, then switched to the HO version similar to the Wrangler in '91.

...how about those aftermarket chilton or haynes parts manual? is 2004 too new for one of those books?

Chiltons has not made one yet.Haynes did but it is for YJ and TJ and they did there tear down on a YJ so it misses alot of stuff for the TJ.
