New Engine (detailed help needed)

I have a 1992 Jeep YJ 4cyl 2.5L.

Just yesterday, I believe that my Engine through a rod... clean through my oil pan. So I need a new engine block.

I am considering taking this opportunity to move up to a 6cyl engine from a slightly newer model of wrangler.

If anyone has suggestions on other engine and transmission combos that aren't too complicated, that'd be awesome

Unfortunately money IS an issue, I'm basically saving at the moment.

I live in Tacoma, WA, so If you know any good online or physical businesses that have cheap/rebuilt engines/engine blocks, please let me know.

This wil be a painfully slow process, I have plenty of time to take suggestions while I work up the money.

Please keep in mind I'm 20, in college, little experience, and it's my daily driver. I don't need a crazy insane engine, but I would like to upgrade, because I do offroad enough to want more...

I'm truly at a loss without my YJ, please give me any advice you can

I had a friend ask me last Friday if I needed a 91 yj 2.5 they just took out of his sons and put a 350 runs good but it's in tx maybe really cheap also it was not everyday driver at all not sure how to get it to ya

If a rod just went thru the oil pan just need a new pan and could look for further damage if block is good then you just need a rebuild

I've had two experienced people (friend and my father) tell me I would need a new engine block all together... Maybe I need to diagnose further, but obviously I'd be thrilled if you proved me wrong. That'd be easier :P

Im not sayin there wrong just sayin from what you told me if you tear apart that engine while your saving and see what it needs then you might just need a rebuild

Installing a 4.0L is costly and time consuming. You need to cut the motor mount perches from the frame and weld on new ones for starters, as well as needing the 4.0L transmission, transfer case, computer and wiring harness.

Your cheapest and easiest bet on a budget is another 2.5L engine.
