New body tub

I've got a '78 CJ-7 and need a new body. I've been out of the Jeep tinkering thing for a while but it seem's like I remember reading that a YJ Wrangler body tub is the same as a CJ-7 tub. Is this correct? If so, do the body mount holes match up or will I have to do some fabricating?

Yes but you will have to perform two basic mods. the body mounts behind the front seat need to be cut off and moved on each side. also the under windshield area needs to have a hole cut for the CJ defrost.

If you don't want or can't put out that wad all at once you can buy pieces all over the net . . . . I bought an American made floor, fender and riser plate dropping a few hundred at a time instead of the 2-3K at once. A couple cut off and grinding wheels, and a bottle or two of argon and a spool or two of wire later and "POOF!!" Almost like new.

I just found a '95 YJ at a junkyard in good shape, $450 for the tub and $100 for the roll bar! I just think that's unreal. A new steel tub is around $3000. Now I just have to round up a bunch of extra parts and have a yard sale.

Nice.... and that '95 tub should be galvanized..... IMO TJ flares will fit well in the back with some cutting/grinding but I don't really like how they look in the front. They look like they're forced to fit in the front with the YJ or CJ fender lines.....

Like mentioned, they do not bolt on.. you will need to do some cutting and drilling. but, when all said and done, you could increase your tire size with out having to lift which is always good. the price onthe tub is pretty good, the price on teh roll cage is a rip off. I searched around here in the north east, roll cages (stock with out spreaders) go for about $50 for a family style. when I built my cage last summer, I sold mine for I think $60ish
