Keep in mind, the production tires will have sidewalls and will look just like 'normal' tires. The pictures shown above have the sidewalls removed for demonstration purposes. If these make it into production you wouldn't be able to tell them from regular tires just by looking at them.

I would think that these tires would be designed primarily for use on road and, as such, act like they had 35-50lbs of air in them. I can't see how they would make them be "adjustable", so using them on the trail where you'd want your tire at 8-12lbs of air would be impossible. Plus, I don't think they'd ever sell a tire with that design that reaccted like a tire with low pressure. Who knows though?
 
Somebody should look into those for the trucking industry. Think of the cost savings over time, as well as the lack of retread on the interstate.
 

I wonder how long it takes to retread one of these. Would you need to drop your car off at the tire shop for a couple of days.
