i bought a new speedometer cluster for my 83 cj7 and installed it with the old speedometer cable. The new cable was on back order but i didnt think it would matter. When i started driving it the speedometer started making a clicking noise and then stopped working. I then put in the new cable but nothing changed. I want to know if i can fix it or if im going to have to shell out another $100 for the cluster, any help would be great especially since i need to get my cj inspected asap

It sounds to me like you got a bad speedo. If it has a warranty I would try to return it for a new one. The cable shouldn't have had anything to do with it.

ya well this was from last summer, im a college student and my cj has been garaged because i cant afford my insurance during the year, so im finally dealing with the problem now since i gotta get my plates and all that good stuff. I just dont want to have to spend more money on another speedometer
