Need help to id type of engine

I had an engine give to me but not sure what size it is dont know if it is a 4.2 or a 4.0 long block.. How can i id it

I'm guessing its a cj-8? If it's a L-6? it's probably a 4.0.

The closest I've found on the second number is 87-90 258. But the number I found was 8933002665.
The other is a build code. The first number is the year, the second two are usually the month, the letter is the motor type, and the last two are the day. I don't see any sense to your numbers. An "M" is a 304. An "MX" is a 4.0 in the charts I looked at.
