Would love to join you down there...but I still need to buy/install new front lower and upper control arm bushings and a new stabilizer. Blew them and the shocks out over Labor day weekend run on Potato salad hill.
But on the up-side the wife took the jeep to work last week while I drove her new truck to work then the stealership to get it undercoated.

She got home and told me to start buying the new front end parts...lol Bilstein 5150's now reside under the front.

I am leaving Englewood (Denver) tomorrow and headed out there. We have a small group taking Poison Spider, Golden Spike and Gold Rim Friday morning.

Tomorrow afternoon we will do Metal Masher and/or Steel Bender. Saturday is somewhat open but Sunday is "Top Of The World" and then back to Englewood that same day.

Fins & Things

Planning on camping in the Sand Flats area and bringing the 80mm f5 telescope out at night....

I'll PM with my Cell # if you are interested...

Stabilizer?

Since the JCR Off Road 1 ton steering was installed I haven't missed a stabilizer.

IMHO...

Right On!! When I first got married my wife was constantly sending me to the grocery store,... almost every evening,... finally I got smart,... I started buying tons of crap we didn't need and forgetting half the things she sent me for. I endured the wrath for about three months without wavering,... now,... you guessed it,... she would rather WALK to the store and carry the things back before sending me :p I'll have to try "letting" her drive the jeep for a week when I travel next time and see if I come home to a new set of wheels and tires,... mine are so far from round now it looks like you are having an epileptic seizure while you drive it.:D :D :D

Hey Charlie, I got your PM. I'll give you a shout once we get in tomorrow evening and we can chat. Look forward to meeting ya.

Jack

Thanks, Jack.

See you in Moab!!
Argh!! I forgot to take my laptop, and therein your cell number. Sorry Cewtwo  , I was looking forward to meeting a fellow Jeepz member out there. I snapped my rear driveshaft on the escalator  so it kinked our plans a little. Thank goodness for Moab 4x4 Outpost!!! I was able to rebuild Friday night, and hit the trail Saturday. Sigh,... four days just wasnt anywhere enough. Going back in April for a full three weeks. I could actually see myself staying next time. Divorce is expensive,... but she can't get the jeep if I have it with me!!!

Again, sorry I couldn't catch up with you.

Sorry that we missed each other. It would have been fun to run a trail.

We stayed on Sand Flats Road at the base of Fins & Things.

We had damage also but it was minor. Negotiated the Golden Crack with a little more momentum then was probably necessary. We probably loosened bolts on the Kilby gas tank skid plate and they got lost (3 bolts on the front side). Started smelling like gas soon after.

Found this between the Crack and the end of the Golden Spike trail. It had a Sportman's Bible at the base. Anyone know the story of that?

Negotiating Mirror Gulch on the Metal Masher trail.

Trails run this weekend:
Thursday - Ran the South side of Fins & Things.
Friday - Ran Poison Spider, Golden Spike and the Gold Bar Rim.
Saturday - Damage control first ($13 and time). Ran Metal Masher.
Sunday - Ran the entire Fins & Things trail.

It was a great time and a lot of fun. I am already ready to go back!

I want to go really bad. I am waiting a few years until my son is old enough to enjoy it, then I'm there.
For you experienced Moab guys: Do you think it would be worthwhile to ship my Jeep out there or just rent a Rubicon equivalent for a week? Shipping from AL would be pricey and my buddy says he went a lot of places in his Jeep with 33's...he also wheels with me in another Jeep on 44's. Then again, my jeep would be ticked if I went to Moab without him.

there is a ton of stuff you can do in a rented rig,... personally I enjoyed the more challenging obstacles (escalator, the hot tubs etc) but, all of it is incredable. You could always give me a heads up, I'll drive up and bring mine for the tough stuff, you rent one for the 1-3+ trails, and it is all good! If you get me drunk enough I might even let you drive!!!! :purple:

We drive from Denver with 33" tires all of the time (3 times so far this year). Full Detroit on the back axle and an ARB in the front. Goodyear MTRs.

The Mighty YJ is adequate for the highway, but magnificent on off-road trails!

It is only 6 1/2 hours from my house, so it isn't that bad.

The rental are nice but if you read the contract it voids the insurence if you take it on certain trails...well any worth taking a ride on voids it. Throw her onto a trailer or ship her out by rail.

Maybe we should organize a west coast Moab run or a Rubicon run.
Would be kind of intresting to meet a lot of your jeeps...oh and the driver's too

I am game! I am already planning the next run for December ( a full 10 days this time). I can make it in about 7.5 hours. Me and some friends are hitting the rubicon for a week in April also.

OH yeah,... DONT STAY AT THE SUPER 8 MOTEL!!!! i ended up finding blood and fluids all over the blanket on the other bed,... their solution,... a half night discount. Rediculous!!!

The measure the snow in the feet and yards incraments...not bothering with inches.

damn,... really? none of us have gone before,... I was told it was starting to thaw the end of April. I appreciate the heads up. I'll talk to the other fellas and see what they want to do. I don't mind the cold,... but plowing the trail isn't high on my list.

Thanks Utah
