Help! Have a 1977 CJ5 with the 258 six cylinder, is all stock enginewise, my ignition module started oozing the goo and the jeep was hard to start when warmed up, replaced the module with one from NAPA, jeep immediately started to miss once you hit about 2000 RPM, put the old module on and miss stopped, took module back to NAPA and exchanged, second module misses too, so i put the old module back in and was living with the starting problem. Well wouldnt you know it, the original module has totally died and im stuck with the new module, I have replaced all the plugs and wires, cap and rotor, ignition module and coil, but jeep still misses at about 2000 RPM still, starts and idles great! I have also removed all the faulty smog equipment that was leaking and made sure there arent any vacuum leaks. I hate to be out the 75.00 that i paid for the module but dont think i can exchange it again at NAPA. Am i missing something? the only part i havent changed is he pickup coil in the distributor, but again, everything worked ok with the old module, HELP! Have mudfest next weekend and hate to miss it! Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Best advice i can give, is to try to find a true ford duraspark box at the junkyard.

They don't make them anymore, so grab 2 or 3 if you can find them.

It'll have "Duraspark" on the label.
