Sometimes I have problems with my 1993 Jeep Wrangler cranking, then after maybe tge third try it would crank up and run. Once driving down the road it will start to hesitate or misfire and if i come to a stop it might die on me, it hss also bavkfired several times while going down the road. Just need some help figuring this problem out without buying unneeded parts. Any ideas would be greatful!

p.s engine light has been on for a while.......

Welcome to Jeepz.com

Did this start at any particular time (i.e. after a tuneup)?

Pull the engine codes if you can - try turning key on, off, on, off, on and counting the blinks of the check engine light. blink, blink, blink, pause, blink would be 31.

In addition to the above. When starting try turning the key to on for five seconds then off then on again for five then start. If it starts right up the check valve in the pump is bad.

As for the hesitating... Check your fuel pressure.
