I want to know if they're are any programs, or online sources, that will give me information, and educate me on becoming a mechanic, and shop owner. Please respond

its not tough to learn on your own... just get yourself certification for automechanics and you'll be set once you learn the tricks of the trade... but if you are looking into further schooling... then i'm sorry, i don't really know where to look for that... i'm sure there are places all over the nation... i wish you the best with it[addsig]

If you want some advice from an ol fool here is some advice from an ol fool. Forget the part where you do the hard work and learn the part where you make the business run. Book keeping and marketing and public relations. Throw in some advertiseing savy and set up one of the garages where you walk in and the floors shine and the products you offer are on the shelves. Where the lady or gentelman behind the desk looks and smells good. Now be the person behinde the counter that smells good and looks good. Hire the people that do the hard part. Folks that do not need to learn what to do but already have miles of hard road behind them and love the wrench turning. Pay these folks enought till they love their jobs and have respect and what ever tools they need to do their jobs. Now after it is all said and done you will learn that the person that looks good and smells good has the best paying job in the shop and actually works the hardest, most and is the proudest of all that goes on in his or her nice clean well marketed and ran garage. My 2 cents! tug[addsig]

You'd REALLY trust your Jeep to a guy behind a desk that looks AND smells good? LOL

I'd rather drop mine off to a guy smoking a stogie with 5 o'clock shadow.

Tug is right as far as learning "business" first.

Yes I would trust a good business man if he has the right people working for him. Seems I have always been the grunt of every job in my life. I have made money for so many good looking and smelling guys that i now know I wish I had been one of them ratehr than the grunt. Tug hehehe tug-n-grunt[addsig]

I prefer to make my own money, being my own grunt... I've accepted the fact that i'll never look good, nor smell good[addsig]
