Well after taking 4 days off for labor day we were planning on running down to Moab for slickrock and Moab brewery beer.
All we had to do was a quick fix on Tom's Grand, (install new wheel bearings) Once we tore into it we found a cracked steering knuckel... either way Moab fell off the horizon like a bad sun set.
But every story has a silver lining, at least mine do. After hitting the bone yard for replacement parts for a ford exploder(drivers seat), a ZJ (steering knuckle) and a Dodge 1 ton van (motor home/AC control knobs), after 3 years of searching I found a 97 Grand Cherokee with a Dana 44 rear axle with disk brakes, just put out this weekend. Needless to say, Moab can wait till our turkey day run. I stripped that axle of brake mounts, E brake hardware, dust shield, and cables faster than a cheap pole dancer in a 5$ show. Every thing is clean and rust free, even the brake pads are new on it.
So over the next few weeks I will finally get Disk brakes on the ole rolling pumpkin. Woohoo!
