I have used their products in several of my vehicles including my trucks without any problems, right up until I tried it in my Jeep YJ 1989 4.2. I am not sure if it was the Lucas oil stabilizer, or all of the other products I have tried added together over the years. Maybe the Lucas was just the last straw. I am cautious on which products I put into my motors, but after a while it became so noisy it was time to stop. I ran several oil changes without any additives and still the noise was there. My last straw (I mean last straw) was to run a quart of "Gunk" internal engine cleaner (read the instructions carefully) through the system and then a couple of oil chances. It became unbareably noisy for about three days and then all of a sudden the valve noise and knocking stopped. That was two years ago. My motor has 235k miles and still runs strong.

Thought- I was headed for a engine change. This solved the problem.

Good Luck

I've used all types of snake oil in my cars, and there is only one that has done any good - No Smoke. This is the thick honey colored stuff that you poor in an engine. It never permanently fixed any problems, but if you put a bottle of that stuff in an old engine it would quiet down for a while, and stop smoking (read this as - "Terry spent two summers selling very used cars"

Lucas is some really good stuff. I work in a business that services tractor trailers. We sell the stuff by the gallon like crazy. Also there was an article a couple years ago in one of the big mopar magazines where someone was asking about oil additives. The editor responded back saying that all oils to meet federal guidelines for some kind of specification have some kind of chemical removed(cant remember what it is). This chemical is good for your engine and really shouldnt be removed. The editor went on to say that there were only 2 oil additives that put that chemical back in. Lucas was one of them the other was the additive made by Redline. He said use of any other oil additive was throwing your money away. I use Lucas in everything.[addsig]
