lower gears in rear end

Ok I have a 85 cj7 settin on 38 tsl with a 304( it came with online 6) t5 dana 30 in front and amc 20 in rear pretty sure its 2:73 gear ratio as I can't get past 3 rd gear I am wanting to put lower gears in it I know I have to change carrier in front to put 4:56 do I have to change the rear carrier also and where is the best place to get gears and carrier

im new to jeeps and all but if you have different gear ratios in the front and the rear, you wont ever get to use your 4 wheel drive cause the tires will be turning at different ratios

Yea I am goin to put the same gear ratio in rear just not sure if I had to change carrier in it also as I can't really find one for the amc 20

yea ive got 4:56's in my jeep front and rear, love them but i kinda pay for them on the road. i can hit 85 down a hill maybe. but thats good for me being young. but on the trails 4:56's turn my 35 inch tires easy
